The Counselling and Psychosocial unit comprises of face to face counselling, telephone counselling and play therapy for young children as well as providing information through IEC and BCC to increase public awareness of psychosocial issues. In addition to the day to day regular services, the unit conducts several skill development programmes targeting young people, vulnerable populations, teachers and parents.
Since its inception in 1988, SHE has been dedicated to providing mental health and psychosocial support services. Established as a separate department of the organization in 1995, clinical services offered by the department include:
· Provision of Counseling: Face-to-face and telephone sessions.
· Case Management and Referrals: Ensuring clients receive the necessary care.
· Supervision for Counseling Graduates: Supporting and guiding new professionals.
· Critical Incident Debriefing: Individual and group sessions to address traumatic events.
· Support Groups: Facilitating group therapy and community support.

Beyond daily clinical services, we actively raise public awareness through IEC and BCC informational materials on current psychosocial issues. Our aim is to reduce stigma, enhance social connectedness, and promote the overall health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities.
We also play a vital role in responding to accidents and national emergencies, providing immediate psychosocial support to clients in crisis. Additionally, we conduct various skill development programs targeting young people, vulnerable populations, and parents among others. Some of these programs include:
· Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect: Educating and empowering communities.
· Prevention of Bullying & Internet Safety: Promoting safe and respectful interactions.
· Mental Wellbeing: Building resilience and implementing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs.
· Mental Health Promotion: Reducing stigma, discrimination, and increasing mental health literacy.
· Women Empowerment: Breaking the cycle of violence and engaging men as partners to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
· Positive Parenting: Helping parents understand developmental, environmental, and psychosocial challenges children face, providing skills to support their children, and improving child protection measures
