Training for Youth Volunteers, 2011

NARRATIVE REPORT

The training was held from 27 – 29 November 2011 for the members of the youth committee of SHE. It was facilitated by Milinda Rajapaksha, the coordinator of the South Asia Regional Youth Network (SARYN) and Thoma Abdul Samad from the Counseling and Psychosocial services of SHE.

 1.     Activity Details

                               I.            Sessions and participation

A total of 16 youth participated in the training. The topics covered included the following:

  1. What is IPPF/MA/Youth-Adult Partnership
  2. ABC of Sexual Health
  3. Sexual Rights – what young volunteers can do
  4. Communication skills

2.     Constraints

As the training was held during the School Holidays, some of the youth volunteers were unable to attend the training as they were out of town for the holidays.

 3.     Recommendations/ Feedback

All the participants felt that the session was very interesting and that it was very useful.

It is recommended that such sessions be held early in the year as it would be more feasible volunteers who are students to attend.
